Striga Multicharacter replaces the character menu of your framework with a cinematic one: pick a character with a live preview ped, make a new one, then choose where to spawn with a camera fly-over. This guide covers the install and the main config options.
Before you start
- striga-core 0.1.0 or newer, installed and started before Striga Multicharacter
- oxmysql and ox_lib
- One of: QBCore, Qbox, ESX legacy
- A clothing resource: illenium-appearance, fivem-appearance, qb-clothing, or skinchanger + esx_skin
Download the script from the Cfx.re Portal under Assets > Granted Assets (opens in a new tab) with the Cfx.re account you bought it with. Your server must use a license key from that account.
Note from the docs: Qbox and ESX support is written against their current source code but has not been run on a live server yet. If something is off, tell us on Discord.
1. Add the resource
Put the striga-multichar folder in your resources folder. Do not rename it. The UI comes prebuilt, there is nothing to build.
2. Turn off your old character menu
Two character menus at once will fight. Do the step for your framework:
QBCore
- Remove or stop
qb-multicharacter.qb-spawnis not used anymore, it can stay installed. ensure [qb]starts everything in that folder. Moveqb-multicharacterout of[qb]or delete it.
Qbox
- In
qbx_core/config/client.luasetuseExternalCharacters = true. - Qbox keeps its own
/logoutcommand. It works with this menu.
ESX
- Stop
esx_multicharacter. - In
es_extended/shared/config/main.luasetConfig.Multichar = true. Without it, characters do not load and you get a red line in the server console. - In
striga-core/config.jsoncheckesx:dateFormatmust match esx_identity,charPrefixis the identifier prefix anddefaultHeightis used for new characters.
3. Start it in server.cfg
striga-core starts first: after ox_lib, oxmysql, your framework and your clothing resource, and before Striga Multicharacter.
ensure oxmysql
ensure ox_lib
ensure qb-core # or qbx_core / es_extended
ensure illenium-appearance # or your clothing resource
ensure striga-core
ensure striga-multichar4. Add the permissions
add_ace group.admin command.logout allow # /logout (not on Qbox, it has its own)
add_ace group.admin command.deletechar allow # /deletechar
add_ace group.admin command.mcscene allow # /mcscene
add_ace group.vip striga.multichar.slots.5 allow # optional: 5 character slots for a group5. Restart the server
Restart the whole server. The database tables are made by themselves, there is no SQL to import. Characters stay in your framework's own tables.
After restart striga-core, run ensure striga-multichar again: FiveM stops this menu when striga-core stops.
Configure slots, spawns and branding
Everything you can change is in the open editable/ folder: config.lua for settings, nationalities.json for the create form and locales/<code>.json for texts. Some defaults:
| Option | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Config.Slots.Default | 3 | Character slots every player gets |
| Config.Slots.Max | 10 | Hard cap for every slot source |
| Config.Slots.Ace | true | Slots by ACE (striga.multichar.slots.<n>) |
| Config.Slots.ByLicense | {} | Slots per license: ['license:xxxx'] = 5 |
| Config.Spawn.Enabled | true | false = no spawn screen, spawn at the last location |
| Config.Spawn.LastLocation | true | Show the last location |
| Config.Spawn.Houses | true | Show owned qb-houses |
| Config.Spawn.Apartments | true | Show the owned qb-apartments apartment |
| Config.Create.MinAge | 18 | Minimum character age |
| Config.Branding.Name | 'Striga Roleplay' | Server name on the intro and select screens |
Locked slots are never shown. Background scenes, filters, weather, music and color are covered in Settings & Scenes (opens in a new tab).
Admin commands
/logout: back to character select (Qbox keeps its own/logout)/deletechar <citizenid>: deletes a character, confirm withconfirmwithin 30 seconds/mcscene: prints a ready scene line in the F8 console
Players can not delete their own characters.
Troubleshooting
- Black screen, or nothing opens
- Press F8 and look for red lines that start with [striga-multichar] or [striga-core]. "waiting for striga-core" means striga-core is not started or did not find your framework.
- Two menus, or the old menu shows up
- The default character menu of your framework is still running. Turn it off (step 2).
- ESX character does not load
- Config.Multichar is not true in es_extended/shared/config/main.lua.
- The menu stopped after restarting striga-core
- FiveM stops this menu when striga-core stops. Run ensure striga-multichar again.
- The preview ped has default clothes
- The saved skin was made with a different clothing resource than the one running now.
